Everyone has heard about Bridezillas. Those brides that basically lose their mind planning their wedding and turning into a monster. Nobody wants to be a Bridezilla. As someone who has started planning their own wedding…(eeekkk!!), I swore I would never be one of those brides. I’m normally an easy going person but when it comes to planning things I tend to “go down a rabbit hole” as my fiance would say, and my mind tends to obsess about tasks. I’m a very task and goal oriented person so being able to accomplish things and cross them off a list is my happy place so planning my wedding should bring me great joy. Except it didn’t start out great, not because I haven’t found a ton of wonderful resources to help me but because I had never really thought about how much a weddings could cost until I actually dove into planning one! #stresscity
Yes, I know, I’m a wedding photographer, I should have had some idea. But I didn’t! I’ve had to struggle with the idea of spending that kind of money on one event that only lasts for a few hours. So in my search for different ways to make this process less stressful, I came across a podcast called Bridechilla. Aleisha McCormack is the host of this amazing resource. There are over 400 episodes available with every topic you can imagine and Q&A episodes with questions from real brides planning their own wedding. As someone who listens to podcasts a lot (mostly true crime lol) I felt like a podcast was a great way for me to take in wedding planning tips and I’m so glad I found Bridechilla. Aleisha has also created wedding planning guides that you can check out here! I just bought their best selling pack!
My mindset has changed and I’m taking on one piece of this process at a time. One big thing I have learned from this podcast is that I will most definitely be hiring a wedding planner for at least a month out (maybe longer). I have no intention of dealing with any issues myself on my wedding day. I will leave that to the professionals that will most definitely handle everything better than me. I plan on being a total Bridechilla on my wedding day and just soaking in the day I get to marry my best friend.
I just listened to Episode #383 with Danielle Tate and learned about an easy way to deal with the dreaded task of changing your name after you get married (if that’s your plan)! MissNowMrs.com is something I’m glad I found out about before I needed it. I’m sure a lot of people I know probably wish they had known about this site that will handle the process of changing your name on everything for just $30. No more extensive paperwork and trips to government offices!
I’m putting this on a wedding photography blog so I’ll share some images from my recent weddings. I got to spend a lot of time with these brides on their wedding day and they weren’t stressed out and were able to enjoy their special day. #bridechillas
